Loco Painting
« on: February 25, 2013, 03:55:34 PM »
Dear Colleagues,

After a few queries, the lowest price I got to paint the locomotive was 250 euros+VAT 23% (see attached proposal).
It is indeed a very high value, nevertheless to paint with the same colors of the “railjet” is not cheap.
I was not involved in the group decisions but why not leaving transparent to see the whole mechanism? Instead painting why not to place just two stickers of the project logo on each side !?

What to do?

I´m looking forward to have your reply very quickly!

Greetings,
Jorge

Hi Loco 2 group

I will check with a friend tomorrow if he can produce decals in the size, shape and colours we want.
He is a printer and signwriter. I will post my findings here asap.

Printing stickers is no problem. We have a laserprinter and self-adhesive labels in white (63.5x33.9mm; 190x60mm), neon-yellow (round d 63.5mm), silver (45.7x21.2mm), crystal clear (63.5x38.1mm), red/deep orange (200x60mm), neon-red (142x50mm).

regards
Fritz

Hi Fritz

That sounds good. Can you take a look at the pdf of the Loco shell (below) and see if the sizes and colours you have match the areas on the drawing?

Also [PT] we need to match the areas and railjet colours. I have been looking at pictures of railjets but have not found one like the pdf.

Anyway, I contacted my friend and he said he could do any colour in a stretchable adhesive plastic.
He would cut it by CNC laser and, wait for it...
He will do it free!

Would be best to attach them before Bad K.
So as soon as I know the colours I will get it done and post them to [PT]

John  :)

Hi John,

The pdf does not represent any real image, that´s why you have not found one like the pdf!
Perhaps follow the real model to make the process easier.

Jorge

Hi John

When your friend can print strechable stickers, will it be better, of course. I have only the sizes I have posted and they are for flat use only. In this way I am only be able to print our Logo or something else this way. But I think, when your friend is printing the shape of the Loco, he can add the Logo too.

Fritz

Hi John,

I like it!

Flags of the group will not be on it?

Best regards,
Norbi

Hi John

Thanks you for your remember to this important thing.

The idea from Norbert is very well, also your ideas. According to your proposals from the last email, maybe it will look good when we make a combination of all  ;)
I have made three proposals, the only difference is the placement of our logo. The flags on the bottom are equal on every picture.

kind regards
Fritz

Hi Norbi, Fritz and All

The flags of the Loco 2 partners is a nice idea.
The logo can wait and be put on as a sticker in Bad K.
Any more ideas of preferences, students??

Hi John

Take care, the logos on the different positions have different sizes. I think, it will look good, when the logo fits in the coloured stripe and not be to large. We can also put the flags as stickers on it, so we can vote in Bad K.  8) , the last voting process is too long time ago.....  :P
But better will be, when it is printed.

Another intention is to mirror our logo, so it can look "aerodynamic" on the both sides of the Loco, do you think it is possible?
What's about our logo or the EU-flag on the front- and/or backside of the loco?

kind regards
Fritz

Hello everybody,
Sorry for not replying for some time, as I was in Denmark with another project.
I,ve looked at all three loco's and I think the first one is the best. I also agree about the EU flag at the front.

Hello All,

My apologies for the late reply, I have been out of the office.
John, thank you very much for the work done. I do prefer the first option and I also follow the idea of placing the EU flag on both front and back side!

Greetings,
Jorge

Hello everybody  :),
I prefer the first proposal from Fritz.
Is also a window area in the front /back ?
A Logo in the front is not necessary, I think.
You did a good Job, congratulation.
Many Greetings

Hi Jorg

Here is the latest (draft) version from the printer.
He will give us a Black/Dark Grey strip for the front, back and top.
We will create the window spaces, they are easy rectangles.
He will cut the side windows, they are more difficult.
He will give us EU stickers for front and back if we want to use them.
I have checked the scale of our T4EU-R stickers and they are perfect for the sides.
I have also asked him to put "railjet" in the correct font and italics.

Comments expected!

John
