Chassis Locomotive 2
« on: August 21, 2012, 12:36:23 PM »
Hello Loco - Team,
we have made a first design of the chassis for the loco 2.
It is based on the design of the Housing from Portugal.
But the Position of the buffers in the PT-design is to high. We need a lower position of this buffers to fit the bogies and wheels in the right height.

Look at the drawing and give us some Feedback.

We need drawings from the bogies and wheels for the Locomotive   plus coupling to get a solution for Loco 2.
Furthermore we need information about the space for the transmission and the power supply.

Many greetings from Germany
Jörg Fritsch

Hi Jorg (sorry no umlaut)

I am trying to work out the position of the differential and drive system.
I know there are quite a few changes to the dimensions but at this stage I have one request. Can the clearance for the back wheels under the chassis be reduced from 24mm to 12mm? The front is ok because the bogie must turn and the wheels must have clearance. But the rear (drive) wheels don't need as much clearance and the extra space (80mm+) would give me some wriggle room for diff and drives.

See attached

Hi John,
in the attachment you see our new proposal for the chassis with the discussed changes from Kuopio.
The features for the housing should be definetely correct.
The measurement of the other required features for the bogie and the drives on the chassis are not fix (here:76mm), because i didn't know what sizes are necessary for the drive and bogie.  The clearence for the drives isn't fixed up to now. Changes are allowed.
But the clearance for the wheels have to be at least 16 mm (measure in the middle at most 80mm)  at a width of the chassis of 112mm , because the axle-distance for the wheels have to be 82mm.
I hope, you could understand, what I want to explain. Look at the drawing.
Please ask, if changes are necessary and let me know the position of the drive system.

Kind regards
Jörg

Hi Jorg

That's great work on the chassis.
This week my students will be working on mock-ups of the drive system.
There will be some drillings to be made in the chassis when we work out the details.
One change I know already is the 76mm must be reduced to 50mm (see jpeg).
Then I will need the final battery and motor dimensions so we can decide on the diff. position.
It may be possible to mount the motor behind the diff. and mid-mount the battery or vise versa.
Also need final wheel dimensions to decide on axle details.

John

New Chassis Locomotive 2

New Chassis Version !!!
Here is our new version for the Chassis of the locomotive 2.
We have change the Radius of the Chassis , because the design of portugal has a another Radius as we had on our chassis.
In addition we have made the details for fixing the coupling and the buffers.

Please check the details, if it is possible to fit "your parts on the chassis.
The assembly shows the position of the wheels to the buffers.
The buffer holders will be made by Germany.
We need still some information where the battery and the drive mechanism will be placed and fixed on the chassis.
Besides we need also information about the fixing of the wheels-holder in the back.

We want to start producing the chassis as soon as possible.

If we have to change something give us a precise feedback, what to do.

Thanks a lot.
Many Greetings from Germany.
